{Totschool} Toothpick Time

My toddler begs to do school every day and she often wants to do the same things over and over again.  Repetition is good-it’s how she learns.  But sometimes I need to introduce a little something new for my own sanity.  I have to keep reminding myself that she enjoys simple things that she can do on her own and that she can do multiple times.

This week I gave her construction paper and colored toothpicks.  She enjoyed poking multiple holes in her papers.  When she declared she was done with her paper we took it to the dark bathroom with a flashlight and shined the light through the holes to discover the patterns she created.  And now she asks for toothpicks every single day!

We won’t talk about the day she dumped out my container of 250 toothpicks and I had to clean them up before Punkin crawled over to try and eat them!  Now I keep them up high and far out of reach.  They are only allowed on my watch!
