Summer School

We do a little summer school around here at Lextin!  Here’s our plan:

During the summer we spend more time on logic.  I have some packets from Tin Man Press that we’ll work through.  So fun!

We don’t want to lose math progress over the summer!  Curly will work on Math Mammoth Grade 1 until we start our new level of Right Start Math.

Curly has a long list of independent reading.  And it’s a good thing it’s a long list – she’s reading 1 Boxcar Children book per day!

Tiger is doing some review of All About Reading Level 1.  We’ve made it about halfway through the level and we’re taking a break from our forward progress.  We’re reviewing what he’s learned so far and reading and rereading the stories in the reader.  It’s slowly getting a little easier!

Every summer we read through Little Pilgrim’s Progress.  My kids love that book!

Read Alouds
The read alouds never stop at our house!

We always do art!  We’ll be finishing up Atelier Art Level 1 this summer.

Field Trips
Summer time is when we spend lots of time at Sea World.  We’ll be heading to the splash pad or the shows at Sea World at least once a week (maybe even more…).
And while it’s a million degrees outside we’ll look for some indoor things like the children’s museum or art museum.
Ohh, and we’ll spend lots of time at the swimming pool!

But first we’re kicking off our summer time fun with a week long trip to the beach!  By tonight I’ll be enjoying the sounds of the ocean!
