Book Review: Everything Romance

Here at Lextin Academy we are about to celebrate our wedding anniversary and what better way to celebrate than with some new romantic ideas?

Here is a guide to provide ideas to create romantic memories in unique ways.  Everything Romance: A Celebration of Love for Couples is 280 pages of romantic quotes, trivia, date ideas, date night recipes, and love stories.   The book includes helpful hints on what not to do as well as gift ideas, conversation starters, and Scripture.

What I liked:  The book begins with a marriage blessing and the following pages are interspersed with quotes, love stories, love letters, recipes, tips, date ideas, and Scripture.  Each page brings something new, making the book a fun and quick read.  Many of the quotes are inspiring and touching with the conversation starters and gift ideas being unique.  An index in the back of the book lists the components by category, providing page numbers to quickly reference a specific love story or date idea without skimming back through the entire book.

What I didn’t like:  I would prefer the book be more organized into categories rather than a mixture of quotes, stories, recipes, and ideas scattered throughout the book.  In addition, I did not find the date ideas overly original.  For example, some date ideas were to have an eco-friendly picnic, go to a drive-in movie, volunteer together, or visit a bed and breakfast.  I was hoping for more creative date ideas for nights when you can’t find a sitter and need to have a “date” at home.

Overall:  While I think the book is lacking in originality in some areas, I will enjoy using it as a reference for quotes and inspirational ideas as well as reading the love stories.

Disclosure:  I received a free copy of this book from Multnomah Publishers in exchange for my honest review.
